Email Communication Designed for Vessels
V-Mail is a vessel emailing solution designed to send and receive short email messages without attachments through compatible FMT terminals. It also supports full-function email, including attachments, through Inmarsat FleetBroadband, Iridium, Thuraya and other available internet connections.
The software supports internet access through Wi-Fi, WiMAX, 2G, 3G, 4G mobile internet, EVDO, HSDPA, HSPA and LTE connections. It can also be used with idpvmail.com and satvmail.com accounts simultaneously.
V-Mail is designed to help vessel operators control satellite data consumption with message and attachment compression, configurable size limits, filtering and remote communication controls.
Key Benefits
More Than 80% Data Compression
V-Mail describes data compression of more than 80% to help reduce the amount of data transferred over costly satellite connections.
Attachment Filtering
Control which attachments are accepted and transferred between vessel and shore.
Automatic Attachment Compression
Compress attachments automatically for email traffic in both directions, from vessel to office and office to vessel.
Configurable Message Limits
Set email body text and attachment size limits to help manage data use.
Spam Filtering
Use spam filtering to reduce unwanted email traffic to the vessel.
One Client, Two Connections
Use two email addresses simultaneously: one for FMT satellite messaging and another for FleetBroadband or internet email with attachment support.
Built around lower satellite data usage
V-Mail combines compression and administrative controls so vessel managers can define how email is used across supported satellite and internet connections.
- More than 80% email data compression (as stated by the product source)
- Attachment size and allow/disallow controls
- Email body size limits
- Authorized and blocked sender lists
- Fetch email headers first, then choose to download, delete or hold messages on the server
